Try alternativeThe multi award-winning winemakers who loved the Angels so much, they changed their entire business to be part of Naked
The team at Stratford Vineyard have been successfully making excellent wines for many years. The vineyard has been awarded over 700 awards in the last six years including winery of the year, double gold, gold, silver and bronze medals in Australia and International wine shows.
Chances are, you’ve heard of Stratford Vineyard before - only then they were known by a different name. They first joined Naked’s Stop the Squeeze program with the Lagoon View wines that were caught up in the China tariff crisis. The relationship was intended to be temporary. Then something very special happened.
Both the Stratford team and the Angels adored one another so much, the team decided to be part of Naked exclusively… and permanently. So here they are, using their actual vineyard’s name, with Naked for good! May we introduce vineyard co-owners Barbara and Sam Gallo and their winemaker, Glenn Eberbach - our newest team behind Stratford Vineyard.

Barbara Gallo & Glenn Eberbach's Story
Barbara, Sam and Glenn were blown away by the interaction they had with Angels, who immediately fell in love with their wines. “We were like a kid at Christmas when we saw the Angels’ responses,” explains Barbara. “We couldn’t look away. We were reading feedback at 1am! Getting direct feedback from Angels is so amazing. There is no other retail wine business that does this.”
Winemaker Glenn agrees, explaining that Angel feedback felt like an exclusive virtual cellar door. “It can influence Glenn’s winemaking too,” Barbara notes. “We are always looking for ways to improve or redirect - it’s very powerful.”
It’s enthusiastic attitudes like theirs which has undoubtedly made the Stratford team so successful. Glenn relishes the opportunity of working with single estate wines. When he came onboard, he brought with him over 20 years of winemaking experience with stints in the Yarra Valley, King Valley, Italy and Rutherglen. That experience proved itself immediately.
“Our vineyard has been awarded over 700 awards in the last six years including winery of the year, double gold, gold, silver and bronze medals in Australia and International wine shows,” Barbara says proudly.
Their success was spawned 23 years earlier, when Barbara and her family were hunting for the perfect property to start their own vineyard. The search landed on the Goulburn Valley in Central Victoria.
“As soon as we got out of the car, we all knew that this was perfect land for viticulture. Excellent soils, a moderately cool climate and underground artesian water - it ticked all the boxes!” says Barbara.
Her father used his 30+ years experience in wine growing and sourcing to expertly design and plant a high quality vineyard that produces the quality grapes the estate reaps today.
During that initial planting, Barbara started a blossoming of her own - meeting her now husband and vineyard manager, Sam.
“My husband Sam and I live on the vineyard which is blessed to have over 6km of Goulburn River frontage that meanders around the property,” she explains. “This year we are celebrating our 19th vintage, working side by side on the vineyard, and we are so excited to be able to continue our journey with Naked Wines.
“We can’t wait to share with the Angels!” Barbara says. “We have been so touched and humbled by the lovely reviews we have received for our wines and truly grateful how quickly the Angels supported our vineyard during the Stop the Squeeze campaign. Angels you are AMAZING!”
