Engine Room Mclaren Vale Label Shiraz Mataro Grenache 2013
About the wine
Angels Favourite!
- These three varieties go together like scones, jam and cream or bacon, eggs and coffee. They just work. This blend shows perfectly how when combined, Shiraz contributes attractive fruit, Mataro adds a touch of classy elegance and Grenache, the final spicy twist! Irrestible!
- The wine is powerful, yet soft and offers a delightfully flavoursome, mid-weight palate. Blackberry, earthy spice and subtle hints of aniseed combine to deliver an extremely smooth, and easy to drink wine!
- Under $13 a bottle for Angels, this wine is very hard to resist!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Hamish Maguire
- Hamish was born into a respected winemaking family and raised among the McLaren Vale vineyards. His passion for the industry isn’t just down to family ties though, vintages in traditional wineries in Europe sealed his grape-induced fate.
- Hamish's 'day job' is overseeing his successful family business — a much respected and awarded Mclaren Vale winery. But he's a visionary and a rebel at heart, so in 2012, he joined the Naked Wines family to make Angels his ‘passion’ wines — Engine Room.
- His Engine Room wines are a product of imagination and a willingness to be different. These skillful blends of traditional with ‘alternative’ varieties, coupled with Angel backing, gives Hamish a creative outlet from the typical winemaking of the region to create something new and exciting. And it's made him one of our most popular winemakers in the process!
