About the wine
Only 10 barrels exist...seriously.
- Quintessentially Barossan - this rich, firm and full bodied red wine shows all the hallmarks of what the region and variety are famous for. Ripe dark fruit compote layers provide a fleshy feel on the mid and back palate. The fine and elegant tannin profile has a wonderfully long and enticing finish. Not too oaky. Not too ripe. Not too tannic. As Baby Bear would say - just right! If you really are a lover of high end wines, get on board this little ripper, of course for a fraction of what others may charge for their Reserves.
- Within this enticing bottle lies simply the best selection of Shiraz fruit from small parcels throughout the Barossa, sourced from local grape growing families. Traditional labour-intentive basket pressing was the only choice for Stuey, ensuring the grapes were treated gently and that he could end up with exactly the right balance of flavour and tannin. 18 months in French oak sent this juice to off-the-scale highs of deliciousness, and even THEN only the finest barrels were tested and hand picked to become the Reserve wine for 2015. You guessed it - the best of the best.
- When it comes to their passion - Barossa Shiraz - this wine is the pinnacle for Stuey and his three amigos. They are true believers in minimum intervention, only getting involved in the fruit when they have to. This expresses the most vineyard's most beautiful potential without the artefact of winemaking getting in the way. It doesn't get much more small scale, hand crafted or artisanal high end than this.
Best before
By all means have a crack now if you want to. This wine is mature and good to go. However, if you want to give it a good 3 - 7 years in the cellar then the smile you get when you dig in further down the track will be easily worth the wait. We love these sorts of high end wines with a touch more bottle age on them, to let them mature and soften just a touch.
Serving advice
Like all good red wines, nothing beats giving this a chance to breathe just a touch before serving. Open the bottle, splash the wine gently into a jug then pour slowly back into the bottle. This simple aeration will bring so much more out in the wine than you thought possible. Let it stand int the bottle for another 15 mins after decanting then serve.
Food match
A few mouth-watering ideas: old school village casoulet. Slow cooked beef cheeks. A rack of lamb. Slow roasted pork belly. Beef randang or madras.
Anything hearty and rich, because this wine can take it!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stuart Bourne
- Why did Stuart go down the wild winemaking path? To be able to drink his homework of course! Working right alongside three of his closest mates is the cherry on the top of this winemaking guru's story so far.
- He was originally a graduate in both Anatomy and Pharmacology. Since winemaking combines every discipline of Science, it appeals to the geek within. He loves tasting his experiments and now has 20 Australian vintages under his belt!
- For Stuart, it is the local growing families that continue to be the beating heart of the Barossa's world famous brilliance generation after generation. His passion for the Barossa has led to plenty of career highlights, like making it into the Top 100 Wines of the World in The Wine Spectator. Having a wine that he made served to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II also wasn't a bad day at the office!
