About the wine
A deliciously earthy red
- A perfectly-balanced red blend that might remind you of the Aussie outback — red, earthy and full of local expression.
- It's a wonderful expression of the Clare Valley - two of its best varieties, skillfully crafted together in perfect harmony to a medium-bodied wine.
- It’s packed with juicy red and dark berries, slightly herby and a hint of mint-choc-chip (trust me, it works!). Its mouthwatering presence will be felt long after you’ve swallowed it.
Best before
The wine is ready to drink now but would not disappoint after a stint in a cool cellar for 5-7 years
Serving advice
Glass number 2 always seems to be better than the first, I think a little air doesn't hurt this wine. If you have a decanter give it a vigorous pour while its young.
Food match
Slow roast Salt-bush Clare Valley Lamb Shoulder is the best with this wine. Any lamb will do nicely but as with everything - quality over quantity. Find a good butcher.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Glenn Barry
- Glenn Barry is a South Australian wine wizard, an ex-chief winemaker for Knappstein and a highly respected wine show judge. His philosophy of ‘no boring wines’ ensures a fantastically flavoured flourish in every bottle.
He’s had a stellar career working vintages in big wineries in Italy, the US and Canada, as well as here in Australia. When he tired of years sleeping on other folks' couches, he settled down in South Australia and worked his way up the ranks to Chief Winemaker.
With a ton of medals under his belt and all the right connections, he’s struck out on his own. Now he makes his own wines for us that are fun and interesting to drink. And you can be the judge of that!
