About the wine
Tempting Tassie Chardy you'll love all year round!
-
It’s hard to find great Tasmanian wines by little family winemakers like these outside of cellar doors and fancy restaurants.
-
Every winemaker will tell you the true flavour of a wine begins in the vineyard. Bloody oath! Tassie has some of the best cool-climate ones around.
-
Pour a glass and set free the scent of white flowers and peach and nectarine flavours. Savour the moment the taste transforms into pear and melon and ends with a zesty flourish as it goes down. There’s a hint of vanilla in there too from its time in French oak barrels.
Best before
I love y chardonnays young and fresh, so I think that within the first three years is a good time to consume chardonnay. As chardonnay gets older, it tends to soften as the acids become gentler so if you like them more rounded then age will provide more drinking pleasure.
As the summer of 2021 was starting to cool off we retained a lot of natural acidity which gives the wine a lot of vibrancy and freshness, so it will age for up to ten more years if stored carefully.
Serving advice
Carefully. You won't want to spill ANY of this wine!! and also if you LOVE chardonnay, consider only sharing with someone you really like so you can both enjoy it together. If you don't like chardonnay, and you receive it in a mixed case, then regift it to someone who will enjoy fine wines so its not wasted.
Chardonnay would ideally be served at round 10"C not too cold, so that the full spectrum of flavours is open to the glass. If its tooocold it can be a little to much acid and not enough mid palate fruit.
Food match
We absolutely love drinking this wine with fresh fish. Also we have some great organic chicken farms around us so it is also delicious in warmer months to have with a roast chook with oregano and preserved lemon marinade. Perfect with good oysters when in season too!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Cynthea & David Feldheim
This canny couple from the Tamar Valley has captivated Angels with their Gypsy Caravan offerings of tiny volume, hand-made deliciousness. The name reflects freedom, the ‘wild’ way the wines are made and the close relationship they have with this pristine place.
Cynthea has been making wine magic for 23 years. Bitten by the wine bug when her parents moved from San Francisco to Tassie and planted their own vineyard, she ended up studying winemaking and wine marketing. Then the world became her vinous oyster!
It’s hard to find great Tasmanian wines by little family winemakers like these outside of cellar doors and fancy restaurants. The Feldheim's exclusive access to parcels of lovingly tended fruit from mature vines means their Tamar Valley tipples are the next level in quality and value. Angel support has been so powerful, they’ve been able to take over the family vineyard - the first Tasmanian cellar door - and return it to its former glory.
