About the wine
A multi-regional organic red marvel
- This medium-bodied red was created from grapes from the Hooper’s own Mt. Benson vineyard as well as the Biodynamic Vineyard belonging to a family friend in Wrattonbully.
- Both vineyards sit on red sands, but with different climates. Wrattonbully is warmer, giving deep, aromatic wines, with a cherry and red berry lift. Mt. Benson is cooler, and gives the wine an aromatic backbone of blackcurrants, plum and dark berries.
- The result is a delightful drop that shows off the perfect mix of warm and cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon, with a lick vanilla, clove, and tobacco from the barrel. If it was from Coonawarra, you’d pay big prices, but these grapes are arguably better - for less!
Best before
This wine will mature nicely over the next 2-3 years but as always, those who can't wait will not be disappointed.
Serving advice
Don't rush into this wine, give it time to breathe and you will be rewarded with a greater layers and depth of character. One to share with family and friends or keep it all for yourself.
Food match
You can't go past lamb for this wine, whether it be roast, loin chops off the BBQ or slow cooked shanks it wont disappoint.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Derek Hooper
Hooper & Co’s wines echo the pristine land they come from, the local community and pushing wine boundaries (Derek’s speciality!)
Derek’s son, Harry, splits his time between winemaking and brewing. Daughter Grace is already elbow deep in grape juice, and Daisy is a marketing specialist in the industry.
From father Kym’s first vineyard back in 1992, through Derek, to his fresh-faced, eager charges, they are one of the new families of wine. And they’re out to stir up your palate with fantastic drops with sustainability at their core.
