About the wine
A refined, racy red made possible by Angels!
- This is Geoff's first GSM blend for Naked! Having sourced fruit parcels from various sub-regions of McLaren Vale, he's included the finest of each varietal from the most suitable soil types. The wine is 60% Grenache, 30% Shiraz and 10% Mourvèdre, aka Mataro. The synergy of the trio creates a delicious drop that shines with all sorts of food! Antipasto anyone?
- Unlike overpowering reds from the region, the GSM is refined, light and delicate, with flavours balanced beautifully on the palate. Pretty raspberry and cherry notes will sing out from your ruby glass. It's complex earthiness leads to a lip-smacking long finish & will have you coming back for more, so why not stock up!
- Championing one of the most underrated red grapes in Australia currently - Grenache - Geoff is proud to get this hand crafted beauty out to the Naked universe. He credits Angels for perpetuating Naked's virtuous cycle & giving him complete winemaking autonomy - at last!

Serving advice
Serve at room temperature. Try opening 30 minutes before hand to let it breathe so you can enjoy the full spectrum of it's lighter, slightly spicy body.

Fantastic with an antipasto spread, or a fresh hot pizza with your favourite toppings. Try chorizo, roast pumpkin and fetta - delish!

Meet the winemaker - Geoff Thompson
The first winemaker in his family, Geoff got to grips with grapes in 2002 and left a promising career in photographic science to do something he was passionate about. Hard work and enviable talent saw him work his way up the wine-stained ladder to Senior Winemaker at the Tahbilk Group in Victoria, in charge of more than a million cases a year!
Building a reputation as a master blender, Geoff won a ton of gold medals and trophies for his wines - and developed an itch to branch out on his own, back in his McLaren Vale homeland. Angels helped him scratch it in 2013 when a phone call in a car park kicked off his dream to create wines under his own label for them!
With his winemaking wizardry and access to some of the best grapes in the country, Geoff has been wowing Angels with his sensational South Australian wines ever since. He’s caught the eye of the critics too. In 2022, his winery was awarded 4.5 stars in the iconic Halliday wine companion.
