About the wine
Punches above it's weight every time!
- A balanced and elegant wine, this Lodestar treat offers generosity in it's juicy layers and a massive easy-drinking factor. Geoff ensured bold, intense flavours by opting to pick the fruit in the cool of the night.
- Deep purple in colour, your glass will give off delightful aromas of plum and blackberry with a lick of spice and black olive. The palate is rich and satisfying, bursting with ripe blackcurrant and plum flavours. Fine grained tannins influenced by American and French oak treatment all result in a long lasting finish.
- This is a proven Angel favourite, with it's huge buy-again rating of 89% from thousands of Angels last vintage. Each slurp you take will be full-bodied, making it a natural choice to enjoy alongside a feed from the bbq. Tuck a few away in your cellar to crack open with those unexpected guests!

Absolutely approachable right now, however 3-5 years of careful cellaring will allow this Shiraz to develop further suppleness and complexity.
Serving advice
Best enjoyed in the 16-18ºC range - no need to get too fussy but some aeration certainly opens up this youthful Shiraz for greater expression of the fruit.

Eye Fillet of beef cooked medium/rare on the grill, served with Mediterranean vegetables and a leafy green salad with crusty bread. Simple, pure flavours, quality ingredients..Sunday afternoon on the deck with good company and Lodestar Shiraz - perfect!

Meet the winemaker - Geoff Thompson
The first winemaker in his family, Geoff got to grips with grapes in 2002 and left a promising career in photographic science to do something he was passionate about. Hard work and enviable talent saw him work his way up the wine-stained ladder to Senior Winemaker at the Tahbilk Group in Victoria, in charge of more than a million cases a year!
Building a reputation as a master blender, Geoff won a ton of gold medals and trophies for his wines - and developed an itch to branch out on his own, back in his McLaren Vale homeland. Angels helped him scratch it in 2013 when a phone call in a car park kicked off his dream to create wines under his own label for them!
With his winemaking wizardry and access to some of the best grapes in the country, Geoff has been wowing Angels with his sensational South Australian wines ever since. He’s caught the eye of the critics too. In 2022, his winery was awarded 4.5 stars in the iconic Halliday wine companion.
