About the wine
The Shiraz that gets Angels in a frenzy is back!
- Sam's consistently top-selling, sky-high rated Shiraz is back! Around half the fruit in this wine comes from his Father's vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges, a cool climate region that is gives wine wonderful aromas. You'll enjoy red fruit, cocoa and pepper on the nose.
- Each sip is rich and smooth, and the berry flavours take on a lovely jube like character. This is a full bodied dry red, but with a juiciness which gives it an appealing softness. Stock up now before this hip-pocket friendly vintage disappears...again!
- Sam's the man when it comes to innovative small batch winemaking. The creative techniques he uses take more work than a single big ferment, but allows the process to be tailored for each unique parcel of grapes. Sam is a firm believer that the small batch approach produces higher quality wine with more character than simple big scale winemaking. This is the perfect wine great wine to have on hand, including for simple occasions like celebrating the end of the day.
Best before
Sam likes to drink this wine when it is relatively young and fruit forward, so until 2017. Some people will enjoy cellaring the wine for a couple more years longer to let it develop a savoury complexity.
Serving advice
Serve at a coolish room temperature say 16-18ºC.
Food match
Bron, Sam's wife, wife is brilliant at matching the right food to wine. Her suggestion is paella, so long as it has smokey chorizo or sticky bbq spare ribs. While it's not originally local food, Australia's multi-cultural make up means we're never short of international cuisine ideas to borrow from!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
