- Prepare for wondrous red fruits, sweet spices and violet notes, with a touch of blueberry, chocolate and even a meaty savoury character. The fruit for this was sourced from Sam's elevated and cool family vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges of Central Victoria, which has an extraordinary history of producing quality Shiraz.
- Sam and his team went big and fun on this project, experimenting with whole bunch fermentation and small Viognier touches to perfect the intense flavours and balanced mouth feel. The cousin Shiraz of Sam's other Top Shelf red masterpieces, there is absolutely no doubt this will be an instant classic among Angels
Best before
The wine has good intensity of flavour, and a plushness which makes it stunning to drink now. There is also enough grip to the tannin, along with the high intensity of flavour that will see it develop in the bottle for 5-7 years. The normal language about ageing is to say it will 'improve' in the bottle. Sam will stick to 'develop', because he firmly believes it's hard to beat now. It will be more savoury and complex as it develops, but not necessarily improved from now!
Serving advice
Ready drink now, serving around room temperature. If there is time, let it breath for an hour or so.
Food match
Sam's pick is a roasted whole piece of eye fillet steak. A bit of the chary black stuff on the outside, and juicy pink inside - delish!

Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
