About the wine
Elegant Single Vineyard Adelaide Hills Chardonnay
- Intense effort in the vineyard has produced superb grapes with intense flavour and wonderful balance in what was a low yielding vintage. Hamish has skilfully created a high quality wine by hand from this stunning fruit, using both natural and conventional winemaking techniques.
- Stone fruit and citrus scents greet you as you pour, softened by a hint of toasty oak. On the first sip, sweet grapefruit and nectarine flavours come to the fore, supported by a fine crunchy acidity. The wine is lively and fresh, yet the subtle oak creates a sense of maturity and finesse.
- Single site Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is becoming rarer and rarer. This gem will cellar beautifully for at least another 5 years - a very good reason to pop a few in a case and grab them while you can!

Meet the winemaker - Hamish Maguire
- Hamish was born into a respected winemaking family and raised among the McLaren Vale vineyards. His passion for the industry isn’t just down to family ties though, vintages in traditional wineries in Europe sealed his grape-induced fate.
- Hamish's 'day job' is overseeing his successful family business — a much respected and awarded Mclaren Vale winery. But he's a visionary and a rebel at heart, so in 2012, he joined the Naked Wines family to make Angels his ‘passion’ wines — Engine Room.
- His Engine Room wines are a product of imagination and a willingness to be different. These skillful blends of traditional with ‘alternative’ varieties, coupled with Angel backing, gives Hamish a creative outlet from the typical winemaking of the region to create something new and exciting. And it's made him one of our most popular winemakers in the process!
