This splendid wine came from vines as old as Hamish, and has been traditionally crafted by Hamish’s skilled hands.

Born of an epic vintage, it carries all the hallmarks of Mclaren Vale - powerful and plush. It’s packed with dark cherry, plum and blackberry characters, firm tannins and a savoury finish that carries a little shake of pepper.

This is your chance to pick up a super premium red we wouldn’t have got hold of under normal circumstances. It’s drinking beautifully now and will cellar for years if you have the patience!
Best before
Like all wines produced at the Engine Room, we say drink them now (often with an hour decant) but for these Winemaker Reserve wines, they are from a strong vintage and have the structure and pedigree to last a long time in the cellar (delayed gratification if you like)
Serving advice
So any wines under screwcap benefit from an hour in the decanter (doesn't need to be a decanter, we use a jug at our house).

Meet the winemaker - Hamish Maguire
- Hamish was born into a respected winemaking family and raised among the McLaren Vale vineyards. His passion for the industry isn’t just down to family ties though, vintages in traditional wineries in Europe sealed his grape-induced fate.
- Hamish's 'day job' is overseeing his successful family business — a much respected and awarded Mclaren Vale winery. But he's a visionary and a rebel at heart, so in 2012, he joined the Naked Wines family to make Angels his ‘passion’ wines — Engine Room.
- His Engine Room wines are a product of imagination and a willingness to be different. These skillful blends of traditional with ‘alternative’ varieties, coupled with Angel backing, gives Hamish a creative outlet from the typical winemaking of the region to create something new and exciting. And it's made him one of our most popular winemakers in the process!
