About the wine
Rounded body, subtle nuances, big value
- Sam's incredible TLC has turned quality Victorian fruit parcels into a wine that oozes warmth and will have everyone after a re-fill. It's tough to beat this Shiraz as a pairing with all your favourite winter family meals. With substantial body and earthy complexity, it punches well above it's low Angel price.
- The wine's seductive oak element is balanced with hints of strawberries and cream, and ripe, juicy berries. Moreish is an understatement!
- The long lengthy finish reveals flavours of chocolate and spice. It's a surprisingly smooth Shiraz that'll have you craving another sip (or gulp). With another 8 years of drinking potential, why not stow a few away to get the most out of each new delicious stage as the oak develops?!
Best before
Enjoy now or until 2024.
Serving advice
Ideal serving would be between 16-18ºC.
Food match
John and Joan Woodruff who grow these grapes also have an Angus stud (witherswoodangus.com.au), so I'd be in trouble if I said anything other than...great with beef. And it's true!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
