Ashley Horner Family Reserve Shiraz Viognier 2013
About the wine
.
- This Top Shelf wine is from the top tier of Ashley Horner's range... His aim with the family reserve range is to show that single vineyard wines can produce unique regional flavours and be consistent in quality.
- The family vineyard has been in the care of the Horner's since 1960 and has produced some of the Hunter Valley's best honey, beef cattle and now grapes.
- This Shiraz Viognier is unique in that it uses 15% Viognier (a white grape) in the blend. The grapes are co fermented as they are in the Rhone Valley, a spiritual home of the Shiraz Viognier blends creating better integration in the wine.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ashley Horner
- Born and bred in the Upper Hunter Valley, Ash worked in local vineyards while helping to establish his Family Vineyard.
- He's one of the most passionate people we've ever met! When asked what he loved most about his job, his answer was "Everything! I love the action during vintage and the progression of grapes becoming a bottle to enjoy. I love the diversity and the abstract thinking you can put into creating a wine product. I also love the diversity of the people that work in the industry and how winemaking makes me feel complete in my life".
- What's the difference between Ash and the rest? His grapes are from organic vineyards and are made using fully certified organic practices!
