About the wine
Some McLaren Vales finest Shiraz
James Paul Marin’s Reserve McLaren Vale Shiraz comes from iconic 74-year-old McLaren Vale vines. The prized fruit is so good it’s fought over by the districts winemakers each year!
No expense has been spared nor any short cut taken in making this wine. James held back the very best Shiraz from 2018 and aged it for a further 12 months to create this Reserve label release.
This top shelf wonder is in the super league, and is an absolute bargain for Angel’s at under $20 a bottle!
Best before
Having been aged for 24 months this wine may be enjoyed now, however it will confidently cellar for 8-12 years.
Serving advice
Feel free to aerate it, or just give it a good splash as you pour. If it has been cellared (>3 years), it is best to decant due to the wine undergoing minimal filtration. Sediment is expected.
Food match
As we are talking about a full-bodied red, and big bold flavours, the wine will do well with bold dishes such as Pork Shoulder from the slow cooker with some fennel.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - James-Paul Marin
- JP’s stellar career reaches back to 2000, but he almost walked away when corporate constraints became too much. Now, given a second chance by Angels, he’s walking to the beat of his own drum while crafting the boutique, cool-climate wines he loves.
- Extensive experience in the industry means JP has forged strong relationships that help him secure grapes from award-winning Aussie vineyards. Without being tied to one location, he’s able to select premium fruit that ensures every Enfant Terrible drop reflects the best that its vintage has to offer.
- As environmental advocate, JP handcrafts his wines using minimal intervention and sustainable techniques. Through SeedTheChange, he plants a tree for every case of wine sold – a mission that’s brilliant for Angels and for the Earth!
