About the wine
The well-oiled, rich, red machine!
- Enticing aromas of redcurrant and delightful satsuma plum are complimented by the generous layers of juicy, ripe berries. A hint of chocolate, oak and firm tannins form the basis of this full-flavoured and easy drinking red.
- Made from premium grapes sourced from the exciting wine growing region of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. A great vintage, the 2021 fruit produced exceptional colour and flavour with well-balanced acid and tannin profiles.
- Hamish approaches his winemaking as if finely tuning an engine, injecting his passion and ability to innovate after patiently allowing Mother Nature work her magic of course!

Meet the winemaker - Hamish Maguire
- Hamish was born into a respected winemaking family and raised among the McLaren Vale vineyards. His passion for the industry isn’t just down to family ties though, vintages in traditional wineries in Europe sealed his grape-induced fate.
- Hamish's 'day job' is overseeing his successful family business — a much respected and awarded Mclaren Vale winery. But he's a visionary and a rebel at heart, so in 2012, he joined the Naked Wines family to make Angels his ‘passion’ wines — Engine Room.
- His Engine Room wines are a product of imagination and a willingness to be different. These skillful blends of traditional with ‘alternative’ varieties, coupled with Angel backing, gives Hamish a creative outlet from the typical winemaking of the region to create something new and exciting. And it's made him one of our most popular winemakers in the process!
