About the wine
Top Shelf Tassie quality, the Naked way
- Looking for something a little different in your Pinot? You've found it! The fruit used to create this wine comes sites that are sloped to the river and ripen earlier than many other vineyards in the Tamar Valley. 2016 climate conditions produced grapes with the perfect balance of acid, tannin and ripeness.
- All grapes were hand picked, and fermented naturally in open fermenters with no additions. The 2016 selection of fruit was packed with variety of bunch size, flavour concentration and time of ripening. When it came to blending, Cynthea and David had a huge range of options. This is where their talent shines!
- A deep scarlet colour will fill your glass, with perfumed aromas of violets and cherries leaping out. The first sip is like devouring a cup of summer berries! Fresh, red, juicy and delicious. The palate opens up, with savoury and spicy notes and plush sweet fruit. It's medium bodied and beautiful from bottle to the bottom of your glass; certainly the kind of wine you want to have for a special occasion with great food and with great company. Get in quick to secure some of this small batch wonder for yourself!
Best before
This is definitely worth ageing. Use a temperate environment with minimal temperature changes. This wine will age for at least ten years, but is also made to enjoy now.
Serving advice
As a young wine it will benefit from decanting to let it open up and develop aromas. Try pouring a glass then decanting the rest and looking at the difference. It is said that one decantation can age a wine by one year. Using a decanter with a wide bottom and narrow top opens the wines up without the aromas escaping.
Food match
Cynthea and David love eating local foods with their wines. A favourite with their Pinot is quail farmed about 20kms away from the winery. Pinot Noir also goes great with Tassie salmon fillets. Then in winter, try it with a fabulous cassoulet.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Cynthea & David Feldheim
This canny couple from the Tamar Valley has captivated Angels with their Gypsy Caravan offerings of tiny volume, hand-made deliciousness. The name reflects freedom, the ‘wild’ way the wines are made and the close relationship they have with this pristine place.
Cynthea has been making wine magic for 23 years. Bitten by the wine bug when her parents moved from San Francisco to Tassie and planted their own vineyard, she ended up studying winemaking and wine marketing. Then the world became her vinous oyster!
It’s hard to find great Tasmanian wines by little family winemakers like these outside of cellar doors and fancy restaurants. The Feldheim's exclusive access to parcels of lovingly tended fruit from mature vines means their Tamar Valley tipples are the next level in quality and value. Angel support has been so powerful, they’ve been able to take over the family vineyard - the first Tasmanian cellar door - and return it to its former glory.
