Obelisk Wines Ded Reckoning Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2020
About the wine
A bubbly bottle of Obelisk joy!
- Celebrate any day ending in Y with this bubbly bottle of Obelisk joy! The nose presents with fresh zesty and strawberry notes. The palate is a sherbetty fruit forward style that has a nice fine bead. Pour me another!
- Anna and Derek used the charmat method which is typically found in Italian sparkling wine making. They've used the classic sparkling varietal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, both picked early from the cooler sites of the Limestone Coast.
- Thanks to Angel funding you can experience the complexity and length of Champagne without the price tag! However, it is not Champagne in style, so you get a lot more fruit that makes this wine very versatile - breakfast anyone?
Best before
Fresh and lively now but will develop into a more tertiary style over two years.
Serving advice
Drink chilled with friends!
Food match
Rich foods are the treat with this palate cleanser, think smoked salmon with a delicious local Robe Dairy labneh rolled in some locally made Rowallan dukkah. A Crayfish pate, fresh Coffin Bay oysters or even a bag of salty potato chips.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Derek Hooper
Hooper & Co’s wines echo the pristine land they come from, the local community and pushing wine boundaries (Derek’s speciality!)
Derek’s son, Harry, splits his time between winemaking and brewing. Daughter Grace is already elbow deep in grape juice, and Daisy is a marketing specialist in the industry.
From father Kym’s first vineyard back in 1992, through Derek, to his fresh-faced, eager charges, they are one of the new families of wine. And they’re out to stir up your palate with fantastic drops with sustainability at their core.
