About the wine
This high-end Chardonnay is a NZ love story.
The quality of the fruit that’s gone into the bottle is incredible. As one of New Zealand’s most respected and well-known winemakers, Rod Eastwood got his hands on the best fruit around from two of Hawke’s Bay’s finest vineyards.
Once barrel-fermentation finished, the young wine slept on lees over the winter to develop more complex flavours. Then Malolactic fermentation kicked in to soften the natural acidity. Finally, after a total of 10 months on oak, the wine was filtered without any fining to keep as much flavour as possible.
Open a bottle of this classic cool-climate Chardy to release the glorious peach, brioche and hazelnut notes hiding inside. Take a sip and you’ll be awash with waves of flavour and a balanced acidity that promises the next sip is not far behind.
Best before
Drink now or allow to mature for 3-5 years.
Serving advice
A large glass the allows the complex aromas to unfold is handy. But is immediately accessible.
Food match
Pretty hard to go past some Roast salmon or scallops is another go to combination. But equally as good on its own.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rod Easthope
Rod is one of the most respected winemakers in New Zealand. He left top NZ wine label Craggy Range to chart his own course and make wines just for us. And he's never looked back.
He loves the freedom to make wines directly for enthusiastic Angels and looks forward to their feedback on every wine. Their support has allowed him to buy his own vineyard and winery to give his wines a home and live more sustainably.
Rod’s aim is to give Angels a slice of his unique corner of NZ, in a glass. He knows all the best growers and where their grapes are hiding, so only the best make it into his wines!
