Rod Easthope Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015
About the wine
A fresh and textural delight!
- This is a seriously top notch drop from our main man on the North Island, with incredible fruit sourced exclusively from the Southdown vineyard in Martinborough. The level of extract and balance in the grapes affords my luxury of allowing 6-8 hours skin contact prior to pressing. This enhances the texture and maximises the mouth watering flavours!
- Intense nectarine, lemon blossom, honeysuckle and passionfruit bud are characters that combine for a complex and enticing aroma. Of course you can also look forward to the trademark New Zealand acidity, combined with an intense core of fruit and a long rich textural aftertaste.
- Rod puts his passion into every drop that you taste, not wasting time on plugging his wine on the side. This concentrated effort allows him do what he knows best, maximising the incredible value for the Angels who backed him! Tantalising New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc like this makes for a rewarding experience, so get in quick!
Best before
Drink now or until 2017. Some increased texture and rounder fruit flavours may emerge with time.
Serving advice
Twist and pour! Start well chilled and then allow to warm in the glass (always better to start too cold than too warm). The wine will change and open up as it aerates.
Food match
This drop is beautiful on it's own as an aperitif. White wine shellfish based dishes such as steamed mussels go perfectly. Perhaps more surprisingly, this wine goes really well with mature hard cheeses.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rod Easthope
Rod is one of the most respected winemakers in New Zealand. He left top NZ wine label Craggy Range to chart his own course and make wines just for us. And he's never looked back.
He loves the freedom to make wines directly for enthusiastic Angels and looks forward to their feedback on every wine. Their support has allowed him to buy his own vineyard and winery to give his wines a home and live more sustainably.
Rod’s aim is to give Angels a slice of his unique corner of NZ, in a glass. He knows all the best growers and where their grapes are hiding, so only the best make it into his wines!
