Sam Plunkett The Butterfly Effect Shiraz 2014
About the wine
The Shiraz that gets Angels in a frenzy is back!
- Sam has truly outdone himself with this vintage of his consistently top-selling wine! Around half the fruit in this wine comes from his Father's vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges, a cool climate region that is gives wine wonderful aromas. You'll enjoy red fruit, cocoa and pepper on the nose. Fruit on the palate is balanced by another warm inland vineyard giving the wine its softness. The different components work together beautifully to make a rich wine with a layer of textural complexity.
- Deep red colours will fill your glass, with a youthful purple at the rim. In the mouth these berry flavours take on a lovely 'jube' like character. This is a full bodied dry red, but with a juiciness which gives it an appealing softness.
- Stock up now before this vintage disappears...again! Sam's the man when it comes to innovative small batch winemaking. The creative techniques he uses take more work than a single big ferment, but allows the process to be tailored for each unique parcel of grapes. Thus, colour extraction, flavour and tannin are optimised to the right level from each parcel. Sam is a firm believer that the small batch approach produces higher quality wine with more character than simple big scale winemaking. And of course, small batches would normally be associated with wine twice the price! There are few if any comparable wines on the markert. Angels have made this outstanding wine possible, so lap up your reward and enjoy the bang for your buck!
