Schwarz Wine Co The Grower Shiraz 2019
About the wine
Elegant, food-friendly Barossa Shiraz from a 5 star winery
-
Insane value for a wine of this pedigree, made from 12 different Barossa vineyards — some 90 years old. All the hallmarks of premium winemaking are here, from wild fermentation and foot stomping to maturing in fine French oak.
-
The end result is a showcase of the Barossa — lush, silky and vibrant, with generous fruit flavour, finely textured tannins and bright acidity. It’s lighter and more savoury than a traditional Barossa Shiraz and tastes more of red fruit than dark, with bitter chocolate and raisin undertones.
-
This 5th generation Barossan refused to abandon his growers, even though his new export market was crushed. By ordering his wine, you’re giving them all a hand. Ready to enjoy now or pop away for up to 10 years.
Best before
This wine will cellar beautifully for the next 6-10 years but is drinking deliciously now so open and enjoy when it mosts suits you!
Serving advice
As this is still a fairly young wine under screwcap there's no need to decant, however decanting or aerating will allow the flavour and tannin profile to broaden so you will certainly be rewarded with this if desired.
Food match
Marbled steak or rich beef stews, roast beef, grilled bbq meats
Contains sulphites

Meet the winemaker - Jason Schwarz
Jason has built Schwarz Wine Co into a 5 star winery, but he didn’t start out as a winemaker. Growing up on his father’s vineyard, he thought he was better suited to selling wine than making it. But working holidays in famous far off wine regions quickly changed all that. As the grape juice stained his skin, he realised his calling was making, not marketing.
Back in his Barossa backyard, Jason worked in local wineries to soak up skills from the region's finest winemakers. It solidified his passion for small-batch, hand-crafted wines from old Barossa vines — and a deep respect for the families who tend them.
“My small-batch wines are not mainstream, they’re new-age expressions of Barossa classics, designed to allow the fruit to speak for itself and tell a story through the glass. I hope you’ll agree,” says Jason. And thanks to the Angels, you can now try this special wine for yourself!
