About the wine
Warming and balanced from Sam the Man
- Get ready for a full bodied and ripe red wine with some grippy tannins typical of Cabernet. An impressive drop that is well balanced, you'll have envious friends wanting to try a glass!
- This wine is quite intensely perfumed and for Sam, big flavour is an indicator of high quality.
- Think Blackcurrant with some menthol and eucalyptus notes. Chocolaty oak is also evident on the nose. This wine is quite simply moreish!
Best before
Cabernet is naturally long lived because it has quite high levels of tannin which are a natural preservative. The structure of this wine with fresh acid and some of that drying Cabernet tannin, plus that it has lots of flavour makes me think it will evolve for 5 or more years. But the lovely primary fruit also makes it a terrific drink now in its youth.
Serving advice
Serve at 16-18C
Food match
This is a pretty versatile red, and would go well with a wide range of red meats, and hard cheese. But to pick just one dish, I'd go for roast lamb. That suggestion of a herbal leafy note in the wine will be like the sprig of rosemary Mum sometimes puts with roast lamb. Delicious!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
