About the wine
Classically elegant!
- Sam's outstanding Victorian range has delivered once again with this fantastically fresh and tantalising Pinot! Following is finely tuned instinct, Sam has assembled a blend of three outstanding Pinot Noir parcels to achieve something truly beautiful. The Plunkett family vineyard which gives classic strawberry flavours, Bald Rock vineyard which is a little warmer and makes more powerful Pinot and Elgo vineyard which makes some of the most delicate wines out there!
- Aromas of spice, strawberry and a floral perfume will draw you in to its medium body, which delivers a flavoursome yet refreshing drink! Running a cool ferment allowed Sam to preserve pretty fruit flavours and limit the extraction on tannin. This is perfect for his goal of making a velvety Pinot which is lovely to drink as a youngster, rather than a wine that needs years to develop before balancing out.
- This wine is Angel brilliance in action! Considering Pinot Noir goes in to some of the most expensive and sought after wines in the world, fancy being able to buy a delicious cool climate Pinot for under $15!
Best before
The young, fresh strawberry and spice perfume of this Pinot is what Sam has aimed for, so suggested time to enjoy is from now until 2019. Some people will cellar this wine and enjoy it as a more savoury complex Pinot in 3-5 years, but for Sam the more youthful style is the go here.
Serving advice
More refreshing when served a little cooler than room temperature, perhaps serve at 14-16ºC. No need to decant, just enjoy!
Food match
Pinot and duck is a classic match so if you are heading out for Peking Duck at a favourite Chinese restaurant be sure to take this bottle along! If cooking at home, try Sam's personal favourite - with lots of rabbits on the farm he loves matching Rabbit Terrine with Pinot every now and then. Yum!
