About the wine
Bordeaux-style Claret with a fruity Aussie twist!
- You’ve the Smithbrook Vineyard in Pemberton to thank for this fruity Claret-type red. Ben kept the Individual blocks of Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot separate throughout an 18 month maturation before applying his blending wizardry.
- This is a soft, juicy, easy drinking red that will grab you with blueberry, marmalade, fig and Turkish delight characters, and a tiny touch of toast. It’s fruity and generous, and leaves a delectably smooth finish on your tongue.
This wine pays homage to some of the most expensive reds in France, yet tastes distinctly Australian. It's unique and certainly punches above its weight.
Best before
Ideally consume early, however this wont fall over for at least 5 years in the bottle.
Serving advice
As with all screw capped reds, It will benefit from opening 20-30 mins before consuming. Aim for a temp range of 10-15 degrees.
Food match
Spring Lamb chops, BBQ'd with good friends. Will also compliment Spag Bol on any night of the week!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ben Rector
- Ben Rector is out to show the potential of the lesser known vineyards of WA. With more than 20 years experience across some of Australia's premier winemaking regions, he knows exactly what to look for in grape quality, no matter the climate. In 2019, he was awarded the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot trophies at the regional wine show.
- The Pemberton and Geographe regions of South West WA are Ben's main focus. His aged release reds have all sold out in record time, and his flair for Chardonnay is undeniable.
- Ben takes great pride in his artistic licence, always ensuring that his wines go above and beyond. Angel feedback is gold dust, and the support he has received has allowed Ben to increase his output astronomically. All this in five short Naked years...what will he do next?!
