Westbound Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2020
About the wine
Intense and punchy crisp white blend
- The Pemberton vineyard sourced for this wine has more than 15 different sites planted to Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Each parcel of fruit brings its own character to the final wine and kept seperate until final blending.
- Intense aromatics are the name of the game here. A fresh, grassy scent is carried along on guava and passionfruit with hints of lemongrass. It's full of the fruity promise of nectarine, lime and tropical flavours, wrapped up in a crisp zippy mouthful.
- This is a bright, balanced and easy drinking white wine, similar to a NZ Savvy Blanc. Enjoy it while it’s young and energetic!
Best before
The wine is really suited to drinking within 2-3 years of vintage date. These aromatic white wines do develop some complex flavours with aging, however my preference is to consume while young, crisp and bright.
Serving advice
Serve chilled, drink with good friends. Repeat.
Food match
A wine like this is a perfect starter to a meal, the crispness will really enhance your appetite before a meal. The bright crunchy fruit spectrum would really enhance Thai foods, complimenting a spicy salad, but would really cut through a fried noodle dish, or a salt and pepper squid, (I'm getting hungry thinking about this!)
Would also go well with a South West Dhufish and chips.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ben Rector
- Ben Rector is out to show the potential of the lesser known vineyards of WA. With more than 20 years experience across some of Australia's premier winemaking regions, he knows exactly what to look for in grape quality, no matter the climate. In 2019, he was awarded the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot trophies at the regional wine show.
- The Pemberton and Geographe regions of South West WA are Ben's main focus. His aged release reds have all sold out in record time, and his flair for Chardonnay is undeniable.
- Ben takes great pride in his artistic licence, always ensuring that his wines go above and beyond. Angel feedback is gold dust, and the support he has received has allowed Ben to increase his output astronomically. All this in five short Naked years...what will he do next?!
