New label, same South Australian brilliance
- Cheers to a new era for Naked SA Shiraz! This juicy, brooding number has been tried and tested by thousands of Angels over the years (aka Lodestar wines), each vintage delivering its own personality. The 2016 vintage delivered powerful berry layers and a persistent finish.
- Delivering quality from vineyard to your table is the driving passion for Geoff and his team. Transforming their Lodestar label into their re-energised Grounded Cru project has been spurred on by unprecedented opportunities and amazing Angel feedback since starting their Naked journey in 2013.
- If the history, flavour and moreish nature of this wine isn't enough to have you head over heels, the tiny Angel exclusive price will have you looking twice and stocking up. Enjoy every sip of this trusty little red, you've earned it!

Absolutely approachable right now, however 3-5 years of careful cellaring will allow this Shiraz to develop further suppleness and complexity.
Serving advice
Best enjoyed in the 16-18ºC range - no need to get too fussy but some aeration certainly opens up this youthful Shiraz for greater expression of the fruit.
Food match
Eye Fillet of beef cooked medium/rare on the grill, served with Mediterranean vegetables and a leafy green salad with crusty bread. Simple, pure flavours, quality ingredients..Sunday afternoon on the deck with good company - perfect!

Meet the winemaker - Geoff Thompson
The first winemaker in his family, Geoff got to grips with grapes in 2002 and left a promising career in photographic science to do something he was passionate about. Hard work and enviable talent saw him work his way up the wine-stained ladder to Senior Winemaker at the Tahbilk Group in Victoria, in charge of more than a million cases a year!
Building a reputation as a master blender, Geoff won a ton of gold medals and trophies for his wines - and developed an itch to branch out on his own, back in his McLaren Vale homeland. Angels helped him scratch it in 2013 when a phone call in a car park kicked off his dream to create wines under his own label for them!
With his winemaking wizardry and access to some of the best grapes in the country, Geoff has been wowing Angels with his sensational South Australian wines ever since. He’s caught the eye of the critics too. In 2022, his winery was awarded 4.5 stars in the iconic Halliday wine companion.
