About the wine
Elegant & crisp: Top quality, cool-climate Tassie Chardonnay
This is tiny volume, hand-made deliciousness by people who know their craft. Winemakers Cynthea and David Feldheim have showcased grapes from their vineyard in Beaconsfield, concentrated, ripe and delicious golden berries of sunshine. The last vintage scored an impressive 96% Buy It Again rating, with Angels remarking on its distinctive regional execution.
The skilled pair have used oak to deliver the rich creaminess Chardonnay drinkers adore, and their technique and grapes have also ensured the wine is crisp and bright. Aromas of stone fruit and jasmine waft out of the glass, and the first sip feels full and lucious on your tongue. Ten months in oak allowed a delightful nuttiness, with lemon curd, mandarin, white peach and nectarine flavours dancing on our tastebuds. It’s a young, vibrant drop with just the right hint of vanilla before a zesty, mineral finish.
This is a refined wine and presents itself very differently, depending on the temperature you serve it up at. I recommend leaving it out of the fridge for at least five minutes, and enjoying the different flavours as it gently warms up.
Best before
Due to the lovely acid of the wine and lower alcohol it will age beautifully for up to 10 years if you can wait that long! we think the best ageing time would be 2 - 5 years.
Serving advice
Chardonnay prefers to be a little warmer than riesling or lighter white wines as it is more expressive and flavourful when the temperature is around 12'C. keep it in the fridge then serve and leave the bottle out unless you are in a hot environment. Do a little experiment yourself where the wine can warm up and you determine what temperature you like it at! cooler or a little warmer... we are all different and so to are our tastes!!
Food match
At this time of the year chardonnay goes really well with locally caught squid and calamari with a chickpea flour dusting and lots of fresh lemon and mayo!! Oh and of coarse CHIPPIES! we also love it at this time of year with fresh prawns and oysters.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Cynthea & David Feldheim
This canny couple from the Tamar Valley has captivated Angels with their Gypsy Caravan offerings of tiny volume, hand-made deliciousness. The name reflects freedom, the ‘wild’ way the wines are made and the close relationship they have with this pristine place.
Cynthea has been making wine magic for 23 years. Bitten by the wine bug when her parents moved from San Francisco to Tassie and planted their own vineyard, she ended up studying winemaking and wine marketing. Then the world became her vinous oyster!
It’s hard to find great Tasmanian wines by little family winemakers like these outside of cellar doors and fancy restaurants. The Feldheim's exclusive access to parcels of lovingly tended fruit from mature vines means their Tamar Valley tipples are the next level in quality and value. Angel support has been so powerful, they’ve been able to take over the family vineyard - the first Tasmanian cellar door - and return it to its former glory.
