About the wine
A juicy, rich Chardonnay from cool-climate Pemberton, WA
- A limited release Chardonnay from Coby’s Mount Barker vines, known for their fruity richness. It's been also been barrel fermented to make the wine more complex and interesting.
- There's a lot to like about this wine - it's generous with its stone fruit flavours and oakyness. You'll pick up hints of grapefruit, melon, nectarine and spice on first sniff, followed by a rich, round mouthful with a long-lasting finish.
- This wine would happily hold its own against $35 bottle shop equivalents - but you won’t find it there! Grab yours before it’s all gone. Yum, yum, yum.
Best before
Drink it now - it's just too moreish. If you have patience and a full fridge already try putting it down for 5-8 years.
Serving advice
Serve slightly chilled - too cold and the oak will look very unbalanced and tight.
Food match
King George Whiting fillets with lemon juice and a crunchy green salad
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Coby Ladwig
Brought up in the southern wilds of Western Australia, Coby spent endless hours amongst the vineyards where his Mum worked. It was no surprise he was headed for the winemaking life! With a degree under his belt, he returned to his hometown “to seek out the very best, small sub-region sites to make exceptional single-vineyard wines that can compete with the best in the world.”
Over the next sixteen years, he used his silky winemaking skills to help the stunning West Cape Howe, Singlefile and Rockcliffe wineries earn 5-Star ratings from wine critics far and wide. And in 2017, he earned a Top 50 spot on the highly regarded Young Gun of Wine list.
- In 2018, thanks to the support of Angels, Coby became a liberated Naked winemaker with the freedom to handcraft small-volume boutique wines, just for you. And the same remains true today, “We always want to over deliver. It’s really exciting to be part of the Naked wines community,” he says with pride!
