About the wine
Beautifully made Arneis from Piedmont
This expressive Arneis was made in Italy from pristine grapes grown in the Roero, north of Alba. The fruit was hand-picked in the early hours to lock in as much flavour as possible.
Pale straw coloured (just like its origins on the banks of the River Tanaro), this wine shows off its scents of apple blossom, white peach, clay and spice to any eager nose.
It’s a refreshing and intensely fruity wine with hints of almonds, pear, chalk and summer flowers - mouthwateringly delicious! A rare Angel-exclusive gem and such good value.
Best before
An excellent drink now wine it will also cellar for 3-5 years.
Serving advice
Serve chilled (14-16 degrees)
Food match
From an Italian perspective this is a very difficult question....however some of the foods i love to enjoy with Arneis, particularly in summer or spring are, Rock melon wrapped in prosciuto followed by the most famous Piemontese dish, Tajarin pasta with Alba truffles...and drizzled with good olive oil!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Paul Nelson
Growing up on a vineyard, Paul thought was destined to be a grower, but a study trip to France changed all that. The history, passion and romance of winemaking lit a fire in his belly and he changed course. A winemaking degree and vintages around the world followed, as he honed his delicious craft.
In 2009, he took the leap out on his own, and within 4 years had bought the oldest winery in Denmark, WA. His sublime wines raised eyebrows in esteemed wine circles and earned him a Top 10 Best New Wineries listing. But his volumes were small - he needed more grapes and a bigger audience. In short, he needed Naked Wines.
And so in 2015, Paul came on board and went from producing just 40 cases of sensational handmade wine to thousands as Angels clamoured for more. He’s now grown big enough to add one of the oldest vineyards in Mt Barker to his fold (signalling more Nelson goodies to come!).
