About the wine
One of the Barossa's most time-honoured varieties
- Grapes were sourced from the acclaimed Light Pass sub-region of the Barossa. Caroline’s fresh, uncomplicated approach to winemaking allows the fruit to speak for itself.
- The wine was matured in seasoned French oak for 18 months to promote a soft, silky texture and subtle complexity without picking up dominant oak flavour. Bright, fragrant aromas of blood-plum, mulberry, blueberry and blackberry, with hints of star anise, savoury spice and red licorice.
- A uniquely Australian red with a distinctive, evocative style. This iconic Barossa variety is given a graceful, modern twist. Perfect to enjoy on its own or with a juicy rib-eye steak with crispy leeks and potatoes or barbecued lamb ribs with chilli-plum sauce!
Best before
This bright, modern wine features plenty of fruit and a smooth, supple palate on release. With careful short to medium-term ageing it will develop further subtle complexity.
Serving advice
While not essential to this wineÂ’s enjoyment, allowing it to breathe for 30 minutes before drinking will more fully express its natural character. Serve at room temperature, or in warm weather allow to chill for 20-30 minutes in the fridge.

Spring lamb cutlets; roast beetroot, feta and walnut salad; Chinese crispy pork belly with chilli-plum sauce; or harissa roasted eggplant.

Meet the winemaker - Caroline Dunn
Caroline Dunn is winemaking royalty. Arguably the most awarded female winemaker in Australia, she was the first woman to win the Jimmy Watson Trophy (the most prestigious wine award in Australia) and counts a Best Shiraz in the World gong among her prizewinning stash!
Based in the heart of Australia's most famous wine region, the Barossa Valley, Caroline lives and breathes wine. She skillfully weaves new world winemaking techniques together with premium fruit to create her much-loved signature reds.
Caroline remains highly respected within the industry to this day, both for her technical knowledge and her commitment to modern Australian winemaking. Her 2020 Mataro won best Red Wine, Other Varieties trophy at the 2021 Barossa Wine Show amongst stiff competition. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or a casual drinker, a bottle of her wine is a true delight for the senses.
