About the wine
Bordeaux-style Claret with a fruity Aussie twist!
- Hailing from a top notch vineyard in Pemberton, WA, this fruity Claret-type red is a blend of the traditional varieties from Bordeaux, France. Ben kept the Individual parcels of Cab Sauv, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot separate throughout an 18 month maturation to give him lots of options for his blending wizardry.
- This is a soft, generous, easy drinking style of red that will tempt you with its dark chocolate, ripe fig and blood orange characters, carrying a little touch of toast. It’s fruity and generous, and leaves a long smooth finish on your tongue.
- Picked late in the season for fruity ripeness, this wine pays homage to some of the most expensive reds in France, yet tastes distinctly Australian. It certainly punches above its weight!
Best before
The wine will be enjoyed in it's youth, however will continue to improve for 5 plus years. This particular vintage has an added depth of flavour, and an acid structure that will maintain power for several years.
Serving advice
As with all screw capped reds, It will benefit from opening 20-30 mins before consuming. This isn't essential, but the wine would certainly look better for the time and effort.
Food match
Spring Lamb chops, BBQ'd with good friends.
Will also compliment Spag Bol on any night of the week!
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Ben Rector
- Ben Rector is out to show the potential of the lesser known vineyards of WA. With more than 20 years experience across some of Australia's premier winemaking regions, he knows exactly what to look for in grape quality, no matter the climate. In 2019, he was awarded the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot trophies at the regional wine show.
- The Pemberton and Geographe regions of South West WA are Ben's main focus. His aged release reds have all sold out in record time, and his flair for Chardonnay is undeniable.
- Ben takes great pride in his artistic licence, always ensuring that his wines go above and beyond. Angel feedback is gold dust, and the support he has received has allowed Ben to increase his output astronomically. All this in five short Naked years...what will he do next?!
