About the wine
A dry, slurpable, food-friendly Rose
- The hand-pruned grapes for this wine came from a sustainably farmed and organically fed vineyard. It’s inspired by a love of the freshness, texture and lightness of the world famous Provencal rose style that rides the line between slurpability and food friendliness.
- Your glass will teem with the scent of flowers and summer fruits the moment you pour. But don’t be fooled - it’s a crisp, dry drop with a lingering tanginess that leaves you wanting another sip (and a plate of charcuterie).
- it's hard to find an estate-grown, wild-fermented wine at this very sharp price point. But that’s the power of your direct connection to the winemaker at work for you!
Best before
Depending on your drinking likes and dislikes, drink it fresh and zesty, or if you want to see those Campari-like characters develop into more savoury aromas, give it 6-12 months.
Serving advice
ItÂ’s certainly quaffable straight out of the chiller but if you want a bit more texture, let it warm up a tad, but not too much.
Food match
Here in Australia, we love a good BBQ, so go grab some gourmet local butcher made sausages and chuck ‘em on the barbie, served with mustard, pickles and sauerkraut. But for those more refined events, a blini with crème fraiche and salmon roe would do the trick nicely too.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Bart Van Olphen
- Bart van Olphen’s wine journey is totally unique. Born and raised among the windmills and tulips of his native Holland, he learned his winemaking craft in Germany’s Pfalz region, honed it in the USA, handmade mighty reds alongside the legend that is Steve Pannell for eight years in McLaren Vale before settling in Victoria.
- Bart is married to Kim Chalmers of the famed Chalmers vineyards and it’s from these excellent family-grown grapes that he sources the most delectable, pristine fruit to power his Angel-exclusive B.V.O range of deliciousness!
- Bart is very much a minimal interventionist winemaker: grow the best fruit, let it talk and stay hands off as much as possible. And with the huge array of Chalmers grapes available to choose from Bart is like a kid in a candy store!
