About the wine
Last year scored a 94% buy-again rating!
- Daryl has done it again! You're in for an incredible treat with the fastest moving wine - Naked folklore sees it race off our shelves every year.
- When working for Penfolds, Daryl saw where the best fruit came from. So he bought a vineyard directly opposite, in the Barossa sub-region of Kalimna, to grow his own Shiraz grapes. This wine isn't made in the same style as Grange but the essence of the wine - the quality of the fruit - is the same.
- This classic Aussie Shiraz is big and juicy, yet still silky and sexy. It’s packed with black fruits, licorice, mocha and vanilla, with some caramel and smokiness from the barrels. Outstanding value for a sensational wine.
Best before
I personally love shiraz in its youth because of its vibrance and silkiness. Having made wines from this area for 40 years and this particular vineyard for 25 years I know this wine will age well in bottle for 30+ years.
Serving advice
If you are enjoying the wine in its youth sometime a little aeration helps bring out the fruit and soften the edges. Personally I like to just pour straight from the bottle and aerate and swirl in the glass. Best served at room temperature 68degrees or below.
Food match
Red meats like beef, lamb and game. Yummy also with Indian food if you want a red wine with this cuisine.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl.... He has been a winemaker for 35 years... with some of his wines even served at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row!
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.
- Daryl LOVES making (and drinking) Shiraz... It's silky, sexy and simply delicious he says and the greatest value of all red wines.
