About the wine
A Top Shelf survivor!
- Our Kiwi superstar Nicky has overcome particularly cold and dry seasonal conditions to produce an outstanding Chardonnay for Angels. The silver lining for grapes that can survive such harsh weather? Well, anyone with a thirst for amazingly concentrated fruit flavours in their whites will be in heaven with this wine!
- Aromas of citrus and white nectarine will pop in your glass, which have been matched with a gorgeous hint of toasty French oak. Textured with time on lees, the delightful finish will linger with you; it's both balanced and bursting with liveliness.
- This is a naturally low cropping vineyard managed to the highest level, which is all the more reason to hope on board while the vintage is in stock! With quality you can taste from oodles of TLC in the winemaking process, 2015 produced just 282 cases of this Top Shelfer, so get in quick.
Best before
This wine drinks beautifully now and will really hit itÂ’s straps at the end of 2016. If stored appropriately it should be drinking well until at least 2025.
Serving advice
Serve chilled, around 6-8°C.
Food match
Nicky's favourite is whitebait fritters with loads of lemon juice and a fresh green salad. Yum! Also perfect when served with a cheese board - think lots of the gooey kind and quince paste.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Nicky Parish
Nicky’s parents, Peter and Felicity, chose the tiny, unique Waipara Valley in New Zealand’s South Island to plant their longed for vineyard. Pruning the vines on crisp winter mornings ignited Nicky’s love affair with wine.
The Parish family continued to grow grapes for the best producers in New Zealand for 10 years, but yearned for greater security and their own name on the label. With Nicky now a seasoned winemaker, Angels gave her the amazing opportunity to work with and learn from her father.
To this day, Angels allow Nicky to grow the business and spend time with young family. With Peter taking a well-earned governorship role, Nicky’s picking up the baton managing more of the business. Although Peter is never far away (the local golf course) if she needs some advice!
