Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
'Pensive Poet' is a complex aromatic Barossa Shiraz
Now here’s a Shiraz that warrants contemplation as it evolves in the glass and on your tongue. The grapes mainly come from eight different growers in the rocky Stone Well sub-region, with vines from 15 years to 30 years old.
The fruit is handpicked and whole bunches thrown into the ferment for extra oomph. Using all the chops of premium winemaking, Jason has crafted a serious wine with bolder tannins that goes a treat with food.
Indulge yourself in this extremely aromatic Shiraz from multiple districts within the Barossa Valley, packed with blue and red fruits like blackberry, macerated cherries, and raspberry compote. Fine French oak plays a supporting role here with a sprinkling of vanilla bean spice.
Best before
The bright aromatics and length of flavour make this a very enjoyable wine right now, but this those with the patience to cellar will certainly be rewarded and this can easily be put away for 10 to 12 years.
Serving advice
I recommend decanting this wine for a couple of hours before serving to really reap the rewards of the delicious flavour profile on offer. OR even better, pour a large glass and drink and aerate and watch it change over the next couple of hours.
Food match
Ribeye steak is a perfect pairing with this wine.
This shiraz will also create new appreciation for your favourite pizza, pairing beautifully with prosciutto, roasted pumpkin & rocket - delicious!

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Jason Schwarz
Jason has built Schwarz Wine Co into a 5 star winery, but he didn’t start out as a winemaker. Growing up on his father’s vineyard, he thought he was better suited to selling wine than making it. But working holidays in famous far off wine regions quickly changed all that. As the grape juice stained his skin, he realised his calling was making, not marketing.
Back in his Barossa backyard, Jason worked in local wineries to soak up skills from the region's finest winemakers. It solidified his passion for small-batch, hand-crafted wines from old Barossa vines — and a deep respect for the families who tend them.
“My small-batch wines are not mainstream, they’re new-age expressions of Barossa classics, designed to allow the fruit to speak for itself and tell a story through the glass. I hope you’ll agree,” says Jason. And thanks to the Angels, you can now try this special wine for yourself!
