Sam Plunkett The Butterfly Effect Sauvignon Blanc 2022
About the wine
Crisp, refreshing VIC Savvy B
- Grapes from three distinct vineyards in Murchison, Katunga and the Yarra Valley - some with more tropical characters, some greener - have left their delicious fingerprints on the finished wine.
- Sam is renowned for re-working each vintage based on Angel feedback and this is no exception. This wine has the flavours of spring like snow peas and herbs, plus a heady tropical note. It’s crisp but with a roundness which softens it a little.
- A simple, refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable wine by an Angel favourite winemaker - this is certainly one to stock up the fridge with!

Serving advice
Cool but not too cold (straight out of the fridge and some of the flavours will be subdued). If there is an idea temperature, I'll say 10C.
Food match
Hmm, in the world of Sauvignon Blanc this wine has enough weight that it will work well with white meat, but has those fresh green flavours asking for spring vegetable and a salad, so I'm thinking a chicken Caesar salad. If I can be cheeky and suggest a second (and vegetarian) option... Jude who works with us had one taste and went straight to vegetable risotto.

Meet the winemaker - Sam Plunkett
- Winemaking legend Sam sources grapes from the family vineyard in the Strathbogie ranges of Central Victoria. Winemakers don't come much more in love with their job than him - he'd "happily spend everyday around tanks, barrels, stainless steel toys and wine".
He’s had a meteoric rise from self-taught winemaker to a multi award-winner and even has his own cellar door now! His winery was recently recognised as one of the Top 10 Dark Horse wineries in James Halliday's 2021 Awards.
The backing of thousands of Naked Angels has helped pave the way for Sam to continue making the great wine he loves, exclusively for you!
