Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Family TLC locks in world class quality
- Bill and Cladia Small love bringing you extra-special wines, and this is one to out do the others. The long awaited return of their precious Penelope Reserve range delivers hand crafted quality you can taste! Named after their daughter, the Penelope Reserve ties together pristine fruit with an immense pride in their home winemaking region.
- A complex bouquet of violets, cherries and savoury notes introduce you to the mind-blowing palate, full of dark fruits and lingering flavours. Each sip is full-bodied yet elegantly structured, showing off the famously delicate traits of this gorgeous grape varietal.
- On traditional in-store shelves, it is near impossible to find a top class NZ Pinot Noir for under $40. Look no further - Angel funding has made yet another winemaking and drinking miracle possible. Why not reap the rewards of your backing and cheers to family with this Top Shelf, single vineyard wine!
Best before
Enjoyable now but will happily cellar for a decade
Serving advice
If opening now, give the wine plenty of opportunity to breath to show it at its best. So choose some big tulip shaped glasses, give it some time in a decanter or use an aerator.
A small amount of sediment may be present in the bottle as we choose to bottle without minimal filtration and winemaking interventions.
Food match
Not really local, but a slow cooked pork casserole with porcini mushrooms usually makes for a tasty combo
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Bill & Claudia Small
Bill (the winemaker) and Claudia (the viticulturist) embody the down-to-earth family spirit that has driven Naked from the word go. After travelling and making wines around the world for others, getting Naked meant the intrepid couple could finally make their own wine.
They love nothing more than creating the wines they want to make — without the compromise of working for a big corporation or the struggle of being too small. And that includes introducing Angels to the joys of Marlborough wine. Truthful and fun feedback from Angels is a huge thrill for the pair and allows them to tailor each vintage and explore new gems along the way.
The Small's passionate work ethic combined with Angel backing allowed the pair to become their own bosses. Strong relationships with growers of the best local fruit ensures consistently excellent drops, and in 2018 they realised their dream to buy their own vineyard.
