Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Cool climate Marlborough class!
- This Pinot Noir is helping to change the game, letting the Marlborough's red strengths shine through along side it's famous Sauv Blancs. The cool climate where Bill & Claudia have sourced these grapes from are perfectly suited to the whims of Pinot Noir, probably the most fickle of the leading varietals.
- Every flavour box is ticked! Heady aromas of violets and cherries, and a palate that's medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a lingering savoury finish.
- This is a treat that over delivers at every level - small batch, hand picked, wild yeast fermented, hand plunged, then matured for 10 months in oak barrels prior to bottling. What more could a wine for under $22 deliver? Almost unheard of! It must be Naked...
Best before
Happily cellar for the next 5 years
Serving advice
Serve at the temp of a cooler room (16 deg?). If possible, decant an hour or two beforehand, to allow the flavours and aromas to express themselves
Food match
We love it with fresh Japanese. A nice pork casserole or roast duck would suit it well too
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Bill & Claudia Small
Bill (the winemaker) and Claudia (the viticulturist) embody the down-to-earth family spirit that has driven Naked from the word go. After travelling and making wines around the world for others, getting Naked meant the intrepid couple could finally make their own wine.
They love nothing more than creating the wines they want to make — without the compromise of working for a big corporation or the struggle of being too small. And that includes introducing Angels to the joys of Marlborough wine. Truthful and fun feedback from Angels is a huge thrill for the pair and allows them to tailor each vintage and explore new gems along the way.
The Small's passionate work ethic combined with Angel backing allowed the pair to become their own bosses. Strong relationships with growers of the best local fruit ensures consistently excellent drops, and in 2018 they realised their dream to buy their own vineyard.
