Market Price
Angels save money compared to Market Price...
Our market price is what you’d actually have to pay for this wine at an old-fashioned retail store.
It’s based on the price of similarly rated benchmark bottles on the market.
We test these market prices every vintage with blind tasting panels, to make sure they’re honest and accurate.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Angel Price, we’ll add a credit to your account.

About the wine
Premium Barossa Shiraz from ancient vines
- Tim’s first premium Barossa Shiraz for Naked is a blend from some of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in the region (over 100 years old!) in a truly great year.
- The grapes have been given the royal treatment in the winery. Extra time on lees (dead yeast) in barrel and an absence of any fining agents means the wine is unfiltered, and full of flavour. Dive in to its dark cherry and black olive scent, juicy fruit and hugging tannins.
- Wines sourced from vineyards of this age with such detailed winemaking are generally three or four times the price. And it’s vegan friendly to boot!
Best before
At least 20 years from vintage; however-why wait? The wine is drinking particularly well now. It's a personal choice, but I love drinking rich Barossa Shiraz in its youth. The use of a screwcap closure will also ensure the longevity of the wine.
Serving advice
Yes. If possible, try and open an hour before serving. There is really no need to decant or use any of those (ineffective) decanting devices. With age possibly, decanting to remove naturally occurring tartrates may be an option.
Food match
Vegetarians, look away; Roast Lamb from Hutton Vale Produce; they rear and slaughter their own lamb. This, with old fashioned roast vegetables; think potatoes, carrots, parsnips and peas.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Tim Smith
- Many years ago, with fatherhood beckoning, Tim Smith said goodbye to his rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle for a steadier job. He was a lighting technician for big name bands before he saw the light (ha!) and swapped bulbs for barrels in the Barossa. It was the beginning of an epic journey that spans more than 30 years.
- Winemaking took Tim all over the world to France, Portugal and New Zealand as well as vintages at Aussie icons Yalumba, St Hallett, Tatachilla and Chateau Tanunda. And he became very good at it. In 2010, he won 'Best Shiraz in the World' at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London and brought home a suitcase of Gold Medals from the Berlin Wine Show that same year.
- But after years making wine for someone else, Tim was itching to make his own, with his name on the bottle. With the support of Angels, he now walks to the beat of his own highly successful drum. And as a thank you, he makes three very special reds - just for them. How special? Well, In 2019, he took out the Barossa Winemaker of the Year. So quite special, yes.
