About the wine
Last year scored a 97% buy-again rating
- Last vintage scored a cracking buy-again rating of 97% from hundreds of Angels. Daryl has done it again, so you are in for an incredible treat with the fastest moving wine - Naked folklore sees it race off our shelves every year.
- When working for Penfolds, Daryl saw where the best fruit came from and so bought a vineyard directly opposite, in the Barossa sub-region of Kalimna, to supply his own Shiraz grapes. This wine isn't made in the same style as Grange but the essence of the wine - the quality of the fruit - is the same.
- This is all about the fruit! Super sexy slightly spicy, intense black fruits and some chocolate. Amazingly complex with an outstanding length of flavour, all delivered to you for under $25 bucks as an Angel. Unbelievable!
Best before
This wine will age well. If you like bold juicy in your face red wines with little grip drink it now. If you like full fruit but with a little more softness drink it in a year. If you like your wines soft and complex aging for 5 plus years will reward. It has great acid so this will also help hold it up for many years to come.
Serving advice
If you are enjoying the wine in its youth sometime a little aeration helps bring out the fruit and soften the edges. Personally I like to just pour straight from the bottle and aerate and swirl in the glass. Best served at room temperature 68degrees or below.
Food match
Red meats like beef, lamb and game. Yummy also with Indian food if you want a red wine with this cuisine.

Meet the winemaker - Daryl Groom
- Meet Daryl.... He has been a winemaker for 35 years... with some of his wines even served at the Oscars and Emmys two years in a row!
- Working as the senior white and red winemaker at Penfolds, his 1986 Penfolds Grange was arguably one of the top 3 Granges ever made - 98 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker.
- Daryl LOVES making (and drinking) Shiraz... It's silky, sexy and simply delicious he says and the greatest value of all red wines.
