About the wine
Fresh off the Boats
Anna and Derek Hooper’s fantasy wine from the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean has hit the Naked shelves. The 2017 Rosé is elegant, aromatic and luscious! Anna used the local varieties of Sciarcarello, Nieulluccio, Vermentino and Cinsault grapes. Totally unique!
From your first sip you will be reminded of beachsides, summer days and shimmering coastlines. Overflowing with aromas of pink grapefruit, sherbet and tropical hints all wrapped up with delicious spicy characters. You’ll love the oh-so-subtle citrusy mineral mouthfeel that just begs you to fire up the BBQ.
This French stunner (it’s organic!) won’t last long once word gets out. Don’t miss your chance to try this one of a kind Corsica Rosé.
Best before
Its a fresh style without too much winemaking nor oak involved. Therefore drink in the first year ideally.
Serving advice
The wine will open up in the glass a little however being more like a white wine, no need for decanting or resting. Being, French, cork was my only option however these are high quality corks with no risk of cork taint and very minimal oxygen ingress.
Food match
This wine begs for grazing on tapas style fresh Mediterranean home-grown cuisine. Tomatoes, fresh herbs,
nothing too rich or heavy for my liking although I think the racy character of the wine will go with a variety of lighter style dishes.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Derek Hooper
Hooper & Co’s wines echo the pristine land they come from, the local community and pushing wine boundaries (Derek’s speciality!)
Derek’s son, Harry, splits his time between winemaking and brewing. Daughter Grace is already elbow deep in grape juice, and Daisy is a marketing specialist in the industry.
From father Kym’s first vineyard back in 1992, through Derek, to his fresh-faced, eager charges, they are one of the new families of wine. And they’re out to stir up your palate with fantastic drops with sustainability at their core.
